Enterprises Lack Awareness of Internet of Things Devices

A ForeScout-sponsored survey of IT and networking professionals found enterprises typically have about nine types of IoT devices on their networks but frequently do not recognize or secure them; organizational fragmentation between IT and operations complicates discovery and management, increasing exposure (the Target HVAC compromise is cited as an example). The article recommends investing in visibility tools, establishing device ownership, security policies, and behavioral baselines to detect compromised or anomalous devices.
