Traffic Monitoring Tech Vulnerable To Hacking

Security researcher Cesar Cerrudo reported that IP-enabled traffic management systems and roadside sensors deployed in major cities are vulnerable to remote wireless attacks — including demonstrations using a modified drone — that could permit attackers to manipulate traffic signals and electronic signage; the findings were disclosed to vendors and DHS ICS-CERT but vendors have been slow or unwilling to apply fixes, creating a risk of large-scale civil disruption.
