NIST Outlines a Secure Network of Things

NIST's "Network of Things" Special Publication proposes a formal model and vocabulary for IoT systems based on distributed-computing primitives (sensor, aggregator, communication channel, eUtility, decision trigger) and a data-flow approach to assess trustworthiness; the report highlights potential security and reliability issues such as sensor degradation, firmware tampering, rogue sensors feeding false data, and privacy risks, aiming to help researchers and practitioners analyze and compare IoT security tradeoffs.
