Report: Hacking Crews are all APT now

FireEye's M-Trends 2017 report finds that cybercriminal crews have advanced to APT-level tactics—using custom malware, counter-forensic techniques, Volume Boot Record modifications, OAuth-based account compromises, and legitimate services (e.g., GitHub, TechNet) for staging and C2—enabling stealthy, high-impact intrusions against financial institutions; the report recommends asset segmentation, threat intelligence, automation/orchestration, and proactive threat-hunting to mitigate these sophisticated threats.
