Medical Information on Millions Stolen from Premera Blue Cross

Premera Blue Cross disclosed a sophisticated cyberattack first occurring in May 2014 and discovered on January 29, in which attackers reportedly had prolonged access and may have exfiltrated data on as many as 11 million customers and employees — including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, bank account information, member IDs, and clinical claims data — affecting Premera, its Alaska Blue Cross affiliate, business partners, and some members of other Blue Cross plans treated in Washington and Alaska.
