LinkedIn accidentally displayed some U.S. job postings with Russian locations because a third-party job ingestion tool failed to validate location data; security researchers initially suspected a man-in-the-middle scam capturing emails, but LinkedIn determined the cause was a location-mapping bug, has removed the incorrect postings, and deployed a fix affecting under 1% (about 200,000) of ~20 million listings.
