From Mainframes to Connected Cars: How Software drives the Automotive Industry

This article argues that as vehicles become increasingly software-driven and connected, automakers must treat software security with the same engineering rigor as traditional safety concerns; it recommends creating a Software Security Group (SSG), benchmarking using the Building Security In Maturity Model (BSIMM), and proactively addressing software design and supplier risk rather than relying on late-stage penetration testing.
