Russian Firm Alleges 15 Year NSA Cyberespionage Campaign

Kaspersky Lab reported discovery of a sophisticated, possibly 15-year-long espionage campaign called the "Equation Group," which it links to the U.S. government and the NSA. The campaign reportedly employed zero‑day exploits (including the LNK flaw later used by Stuxnet), malware implanted in hard drive firmware from major manufacturers, and physical interdiction of media to achieve global surveillance across multiple countries.
