EFF argues Tattoo Recognition Research Threatens Free Speech, Privacy

The Electronic Frontier Foundation warns that law enforcement research into automated tattoo identification—including experiments using thousands of inmate tattoo images—threatens prisoners' privacy, free expression, religious freedom, and the right to associate. EFF calls for the project to be suspended or, at minimum, for scientists to stop using coercively obtained tattoo images and those containing personal, religious, or political symbolism without ethical oversight.
