Homeland Security: Hack Attempts On Energy, Manufacturing Way Up in 2013

ICS-CERT reported a marked uptick in cyber incidents against U.S. critical infrastructure in the first half of 2013, recording roughly 200 incidents by May 2013 with 53% affecting the energy sector and 17% affecting critical manufacturing; incidents ranged from APT activity to opportunistic attacks exploiting weak or default credentials and insecure configurations, and several on-site responses were dispatched to assess potential ICS impacts.
