Verizon: Internet of Things Hacks Pose Little Risk – For Now

Verizon's DBIR notes that, as of 2014, IoT device breaches were largely proof-of-concept rather than observed in the wild but warns that compromises originating from IoT devices could become a vector for network breaches; organizations should identify and classify IoT devices (Levels 1–3), avoid storing sensitive data on low-capability devices, and perform threat modeling and attack exercises to mitigate rising risk from exposed devices and search tools like Shodan.
