DHS Warns of Mirai Malware Threat to Cell Gateways

The report warns that the Mirai botnet can infect Sierra Wireless AirLink cellular gateways (models including LS300, GX400, GX/ES440, GX/ES450, RV50) when default ACEmanager credentials remain unchanged, allowing devices reachable from the public Internet to be enrolled in large-scale DDoS attacks; ICS-CERT and Sierra Wireless issued alerts and advise rebooting infected devices and changing management passwords to mitigate the threat.
