Trend Micro's "Rogue Robots" report shows that many commercial industrial robots run outdated and vulnerable software (e.g., VxWorks, Windows CE), employ weak authentication and cryptography, and expose management/service boxes to the internet; researchers demonstrated exploitable flaws (memory corruption, buffer overflows) in an ABB IRB140 and outline attack types that could remotely or locally alter control parameters or operator state information, potentially producing defective products or causing physical injury.
