Barnes & Noble acknowledged its low-cost NOOK Tablet 7 included ADUPS over‑the‑air update software previously observed (by Kryptowire) sending personal data — including contacts, SMS content, call history and device identifiers — to servers in China; BN and ADUPS say NOOK devices did not transmit personally identifiable data and that ADUPS has released newer firmware and BN will remove the component from NOOK devices to mitigate the issue.
