Locked and Loaded: Huge Botnet Updated for DDoS

Researchers at Anubis Networks observed that the Necurs botnet — previously used primarily for spam distribution — added a module enabling basic DDoS capabilities (repeated HTTP/UDP request floods). While the module lacks advanced features like IP spoofing or amplification, Necurs' large scale (hundreds of thousands of infected hosts) means even simple techniques could produce very powerful attacks.
