Juiced: DDoS Attacks 700 Percent Stronger, Iran Joins Top Source Countries

Prolexic's Q1 2013 report finds that DDoS attacks surged in power and duration: average bandwidth climbed 718% to 48.25 Gbps, packet rates averaged 32.4 million pps, average attack duration reached ~34 hours, and the largest observed peaked at 130 Gbps; attackers shifted to high-packet-rate global botnets targeting Layer 3/4 infrastructure (routers/line cards), causing widespread collateral outages, with China, the US, Germany and Iran cited as frequent source countries.
