Researchers Prove Connected Cars Can Be Tracked – IEEE Spectrum

Research from the University of Twente demonstrates that passive sniffing of 802.11p V2V/V2I broadcasts can enable tracking of a vehicle’s location: with just two roadside sensors the researchers located a target vehicle roughly 40% of the time over 16 days, illustrating privacy risks from unencrypted vehicular broadcasts and potential misuse by governments or criminals.
