Report finds Hackers Delving Deep Into Compromised Networks

Vectra Networks' 2015 post-intrusion analysis of ~250,000 hosts across 42 customer environments found a sharp rise in deep compromises: lateral movement detections jumped ~580% and represented 34% of detections, command-and-control made up 32%, brute-force accounted for 56% of lateral movement, Kerberos-based attacks rose to 16% of lateral cases, Tor detections surged over 1000%, and external remote access activity increased 183%, indicating more extensive internal spread and targeted activity within breached networks.
