Update: Flaw in widely used Wi-Fi Standard could allow snooping

Researchers disclosed a fundamental flaw in the WPA2 Wi‑Fi protocol (KRACK) that allows a nearby attacker to perform key reinstallation attacks against the 4‑way handshake, potentially exposing encrypted traffic (passwords, credit card numbers, emails, photos) and enabling data injection or manipulation. The flaw affects many platforms and device implementations; some vendors (Microsoft/Windows) reported fixes while others (Linux, Android, various device vendors) remained vulnerable. The attack requires proximity and some sophistication, and CERT/CC urged applying available updates.
