Rapid7's Project Sonar discovered that approximately 1.2 million consumer-grade SOHO routers expose insecure or misconfigured NAT-PMP implementations, allowing external attackers to create port mappings, intercept internal TCP/UDP traffic (including DNS and admin interfaces), perform DNS redirection, conduct DoS against exposed services, and potentially obtain administrative credentials for further compromise.
