Senate Report Warns of Attacks on Military Transport Contractors

A Senate Armed Services Committee report found that hackers believed to be affiliated with the Chinese government carried out at least 20 successful intrusions into TRANSCOM contractor networks over a 12-month period (with additional incidents between 2008–2012), stealing emails, documents, passwords, flight details and accessing onboard ship systems; the report warns these APT attacks against civilian contractors pose serious risks to military logistics and highlights failures in information sharing and reporting to TRANSCOM.
