Report: Major Upgrade, Investments Needed to Secure Connected Vehicles, Infrastructure

The Cloud Security Alliance warns that the rapidly expanding connected-vehicle ecosystem contains systemic security weaknesses—including insufficient network segmentation between critical and non-critical components, insecure roadside units (RSUs), and risky third-party app/cloud integrations—and urges a bottom-up security redesign (PKI/SCMS, NIST/ENISA-aligned cryptography, code verification, red teaming and secure systems engineering) to reduce safety and privacy risks as vehicles increasingly interact with infrastructure and external services.
