Researchers at the University of Cambridge demonstrated a proof-of-concept attack that uses a smartphone's camera and microphone to detect touch events and subtle orientation changes to infer users' PINs on Android soft keyboards; tests on a small user sample and two devices showed the technique can significantly narrow possible PINs under controlled conditions, but the study was limited in scope and did not demonstrate real-world exploitation.
