Hacking Still Can’t Outdo Stupidity for Data Leaks

DumpBrowserSecrets is a post-exploitation credential-harvesting tool for Windows that extracts saved passwords, session cookies, OAuth refresh tokens, credit card data, autofill entries and browsing history from Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera variants, Vivaldi) and Firefox; it notably implements an App-Bound Encryption bypass for Chrome 127+ by spawning a headless Chromium process, injecting a DLL via Early Bird APC, and using the IElevator COM interface to decrypt the app_bound_encrypted_key. The tool includes DPAPI and NSS handling, multiple evasion techniques (string obfuscation, API hashing, PPID/argument spoofing, handle duplication, custom SQLite parser), outputs structured JSON for red-team use, and the report highlights detection opportunities (process injection, headless browser instantiation, reads of browser SQLite files, IElevator calls) and recommends mitigations such as off-browser credential managers and targeted EDR rules.
