Hearings Start in Italy’s Ferry Giant Corruption Probe

Italian authorities are investigating alleged corruption at Tirrenia–Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione (CIN), including claims of free ferry tickets exchanged for favors, falsified documents, and operation of non-compliant vessels; three ferries were seized as a precaution, numerous public officials and company staff are implicated, and prosecutors have requested house arrest and temporary interdictions while further interrogations proceed.
