## Executive summary A GASA study of more than 22,000 adults across 15 European countries found that three in four encountered a scam in the past year, with estimated losses of $57 billion and severe underreporting; scammers are shifting to major online platforms (Gmail, WhatsApp, Facebook) and using increasingly personalized, AI-enabled impersonation (voice cloning, cloned identities, fraudulent SMS) to target victims.
