Europol Seizes $72M in Counterfeit Cash, Props

Law enforcement authorities from 18 countries, supported by Europol, conducted a six-month operation (Oct 2024–Mar 2025) that seized nearly one million counterfeit items worth over €66 million, intercepted 297 parcels, and launched 102 investigations into groups moving fake euros, U.S. dollars, and British pounds. Led by Austria, Portugal, and Spain, the crackdown uncovered counterfeiting hubs across Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East, with a major seizure of $600,000 in Romania and widespread use of “movie money” props exploited by criminals.
