UK Authorities Raid a Housing Company in Multi-Million-Pound Fraud Probe

The UK Serious Fraud Office announced a bribery and fraud investigation into the former management of Home REIT, arresting six people and searching multiple sites in the UK and a property in Italy, with suspected wrongdoing of about £300 million. Home REIT, which raised over £850 million after listing in 2020 to fund social housing, had its shares suspended in January 2023 following concerns over property valuations and tenants’ ability to pay rent.
