Kyrgyz Court Jails Matraimov Ally on Corruption Charges

A Bishkek court ordered Munarbek Saipidinov, a close associate of ex-customs official Raimbek Matraimov, held until Sept. 30 on corruption charges tied to the alleged transfer of state-owned land and property to private hands in southern Kyrgyzstan. Extradited from Russia on Aug. 7, Saipidinov posted a video accusing Matraimov of orchestrating his arrest to suppress damaging information, including alleged links to the 2018 death of journalist Ulan Egizbaev and the 2019 murder of money launderer Aierken Saimaiti.
