EPPO Uncovers Massive €100M VoIP VAT Fraud

German authorities, supported by the EPPO in Munich, secured convictions against three men for a VoIP-centered VAT carousel fraud run by a group code-named "Cuba," which fabricated cross-border transactions and invoices to reclaim VAT, inflicting up to EUR 100 million in losses; sentences ranged from a suspended two-year term to five years and nine months, with EUR 7.3 million confiscated.
