Authorities in Italy, Spain, and Albania arrested 28 suspected members of a drug trafficking network tied to the ’Ndrangheta, accused of smuggling cocaine from South America to Europe and selling it in Rome. Among the suspects is a Calabrian organizer operating in Rome’s San Basilio area, with prosecutors alleging the group trafficked over a ton of cocaine and used torture, including recording a violent attack, to maintain control and intimidate others.
