Latvia: Seven Detained in Hospital Procurement Collusion Probe

Latvia’s Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) detained seven individuals and conducted searches at Ogre District Hospital, Liepāja Regional Hospital, and more than 20 other locations as part of an investigation into suspected public procurement bid-rigging; the proceedings combine three criminal cases—two initiated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) and one by KNAB—with officials suspected of colluding with medical suppliers to steer contracts.
