Ex-Cyprus President Slams Anti-Graft Report, Calls for Independent Probe

Former Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades vehemently denied sweeping anti-corruption allegations linking him to abuse of power and influence-trading, criticized the Anti-Corruption Authority for using a civil standard of proof, demanded an independent criminal investigation, and noted that the Prosecutorial Council forwarded the findings toward potential prosecution while the Cabinet plans to appoint independent investigators.
