Former Kyrgyz Security Chief Sentenced for Trying to Violently Seize Power

A Kyrgyz court found former security chief Kamchybek Tashiev guilty of attempting to seize power after the publication of the "Letter of 75"; he was sentenced to four years with the term immediately commuted to three years' probation, and two other senior officials received identical sentences. The verdict deepens a rift between Tashiev and President Sadyr Japarov, follows purges of signatories, and is being appealed by Tashiev's legal team.
