Lithuania Reviews Belarusian Businessman After Report

An OCCRP and Buro investigation found that apps presented as Lithuanian products (including Nicegram and eSIM Plus) were developed and supported by a Belarusian firm owned by Andrei Shimanovich; technical analysis indicated some apps transmitted user data to services in Belarus and Russia. Lithuania’s Migration Department has asked security agencies to reassess Shimanovich’s residency status and directed cyber and police units to review the apps’ code and security to determine possible maliciousness and user-data risk.
