Residential Proxies in the Wild

Infoblox analysis of DNS telemetry found that over 65% of its Threat Defense Cloud customers queried domains associated with residential proxy networks (growing to over 500 billion monthly queries), identifying major providers (Brightdata, Oxylabs, Hola, Honeygain, Grass), spikes around an IPIDEA takedown, and highlighting risks such as IP laundering, bypassing of reputation/fraud controls, non-consensual proxyware, and possible internal network probing; the report recommends DNS logging, protective DNS policies, application/extension and IoT audits, and blocking or investigating known proxy domains.
