The EU Strikes Back: New Sanctions Target Chinese and Iranian Cyber Threat Actors

The EU has sanctioned three companies and two individuals from China and Iran for facilitating state-aligned cyber operations: Integrity Technology Group and Anxun Information Technology are accused of enabling compromises of over 65,000 devices and targeting critical infrastructure, while Emennet Pasargad is accused of unlawfully accessing and selling a French subscriber database and spreading disinformation (including via compromised billboards during the 2024 Paris Olympics). Measures include asset freezes, financial embargoes, and travel bans aimed at disrupting their ability to operate in EU territories.
