Multiple prominent French supermarket chains suffered a widespread cyberattack in which attackers apparently accessed internet-connected Danfoss refrigeration controllers to force prolonged defrost cycles; the sabotage caused chillers and freezers to overheat (temperatures up to 50°C), destroyed large volumes of perishable goods across hundreds of locations, and in some cases triggered electrical fires.
