Apple Container 1.0: Native Linux VMs on Apple Silicon

Apple has released Container 1.0.0, an open-source Swift-based command-line tool for Apple Silicon that runs each OCI container inside its own lightweight VM. The release adds persistent container machines, TOML-based configuration, improved host-container file transfer, and structured output for automation, while targeting macOS 26+ and noting memory management and compatibility limitations on older macOS releases.
