VeraCrypt's lead developer had his Microsoft account suspended, preventing the acquisition of required driver and bootloader signatures for Windows releases. As a result, future VeraCrypt updates for Windows may be blocked and, with 2011 UEFI boot certificate expirations looming in late June, users with encrypted system partitions risk catastrophic boot failures; macOS and Linux builds are unaffected. Microsoft closed the re-verification application without explanation and automated responses have prevented direct appeal.
