Skeletal Scans and Height Checks: Meta Deploys Radical “Visual Analysis” AI to Purge Underage Users

Meta is testing and rolling out a Visual Analysis system that estimates users' ages from imagery (height proportions, bone development markers) combined with textual and interaction data to detect and disable accounts of users under 13 and to automatically classify 13–15-year-olds into more restrictive "Teen Accounts." The measure will be phased across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp in select countries and regions as Meta responds to European regulatory scrutiny under the Digital Services Act.
