Windows 11 Update Causing SSD Failures: Microsoft Investigates Critical Storage Bug

Microsoft published a support bulletin noting reports that Windows 11 updates KB5063878/KB5062660 may trigger severe storage failures—primarily on SSDs, occasionally HDDs—during sustained large writes, with some drives reverting to RAW and becoming inaccessible; the issue appears more common on Phison-controlled devices. Microsoft and Phison have not yet reproduced the problem and are collecting diagnostic data from affected users to continue the investigation.
