Microsoft has introduced an adaptive file size display in Windows File Explorer (enabled by default in Windows 11 Experimental Build 26300.8376 and Beta Build 26220.8370) that automatically selects KB, MB, GB and — based on empirical testing — TB units according to file size thresholds to improve readability over the previous all-KB display; testing shows 1,099,511,627,776 bytes renders as 1TB.
