Protecting Malaysians’ Data: New Breach Notification System in Place

Malaysia announced a new data breach notification system mandating immediate reporting of personal data breaches to enable rapid analysis, mitigation, and ongoing monitoring. Led by Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching, the initiative includes a nationwide awareness campaign, tighter data handling rules, and strengthened controls, alongside the establishment of the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) to coordinate stakeholders, enhance information sharing, and address evolving fraud and tech-abuse threats.
