A large-scale campaign uses highly convincing clone websites for popular open-source tools to intercept download clicks and route victims through a sophisticated Traffic Distribution System (TDS) that performs gating, anti-analysis checks, and environment-based routing; downstream outcomes include monetization pages, unwanted extensions, or the deployment of malware families such as SessionGate (multi-stage installer), RemusStealer (browser and wallet data exfiltration), and a cryptocurrency clipper, making this a stealthy, high-risk threat to developers and IT staff.
