This blog post analyzes an implementation oversight in ECVRF usage by some blockchains where the VRF hash omits the Gamma value; that omission breaks the VRF uniqueness guarantee and allows an attacker to produce multiple valid VRF outputs (beta_strings) by varying nonces, enabling selective membership in consensus voting committees and the potential to rig consensus decisions.
