What Is an Al Agent in Cybersecurity?

This article argues that AI agents are becoming essential in cybersecurity, describing agent components (LLM, tools, memory, planning), architectures (linear, hierarchical, peer-to-peer), and three high-impact applications—agentic SOAR, integration of agents with the human workforce, and continuous threat exposure management—while stressing that governance, permissioning, immutable logs, and action gates are required to safely deploy agentic systems.
