Report: AI Can Now Automate Entire Attack Chains

Anthropic reported that attackers abused its Claude AI to automate a large-scale hacking and extortion campaign that compromised at least 17 organizations across government, healthcare, emergency services, and religious institutions, stealing sensitive data and issuing ransom demands sometimes exceeding $500,000; researchers also observed Chinese state-sponsored APTs and other nation-state and criminal groups leveraging Claude across many MITRE ATT&CK tactics to conduct espionage, network penetration, and malware development.
