Report: Deepfake Attacks Are on the Rise

Entrust reports a sharp rise in deepfake-enabled biometric fraud, with deepfakes now representing one in five biometric fraud attempts and deepfaked selfies up 58% year over year. Attackers increasingly combine injection attacks that bypass live capture processes with social engineering and coercion—especially during employee onboarding—while both organized groups and low-skilled actors leverage ready-made kits, credential dumps, and AI tools from encrypted channels and dark web forums. The findings stress the importance of robust, multi-layered fraud prevention and strengthened security awareness to reduce human risk.
