The Percentage of Organizations Globally Struck by Ransomware Hits an All-Time High

Check Point Research highlights a 33% year-over-year rise in ransomware impact in 2023, with the share of affected organizations growing from 1 in 13 to 1 in 10 and an estimated 60,000 attack attempts per organization; APAC saw the highest rate (11%), the Americas surged from 5% to 9%, and the most targeted sectors were education/research (22%), government/military (16%), and healthcare (12%), prompting recommendations for robust backups, timely patching, strong authentication, anti-ransomware and threat prevention controls, and security awareness training.
